ThinkBig Analytics is the newly form division dedicated to Open Source technology and analytics business consulting.
The role will have a specific focus on engaging with the network side of a Telco and we expect the candidate to have a thorough understanding of how 2G, 3G and LTE networks operate.
Historically, Teradata has engaged primarily with Finance, Marketing and IT functions, but many of our customers are now integrating specific network events with traditional customer (i.e. CRM, Call Center, billing) data to drive an uplift in revenue generation and retention activities; as well as building powerful CEM capabilities through the integration and analysis of network and non-network customer-level data. We are also engaging directly in the network space, i.e. where Teradata can be used specifically to address network-related challenges, e.g. transforming complex probe feeds, OSS reporting, IoT device connectivity information etc to create powerful network intelligence capabilities such as predictive network maintenance.
The Telco Network Industry Consultant (NIC) will be responsible for:
1. Supporting sales initiatives by providing pre-sales consulting
2. Driving demand creation by directing the development of Teradata’s Telco solution portfolio
3. Contributing to and being part of the region’s Telco High Performance Community
1. Supporting Sales Initiatives
The primary role of the IC will be to help drive Teradata solution revenues by:
Acting as a senior and trusted advisor to the customer in solving specific business problems relating largely to the use of network event data from their own industry experiences and knowledge
Advising the customer in the use of information and analytics to drive business change initiatives that will deliver value to their Business
Developing partnerships with leading suppliers to the Network to position Teradata as the platform of choice for analytics
Convincing the customer of the value differentiation of Teradata’s solutions
The role will be both pre and post-sales in that the NIC will be responsible for establishing and developing executive and senior level relationships to build a long-term partnership. The NIC will also be engaged in delivering customer consulting engagements (for target accounts) and mentoring local Teradata consulting resources. It is envisaged that >80 of the work will be presales.
2. Driving Demand Creation
The NIC will also be responsible for using his / her industry knowledge and contacts to help drive revenues for the Spain & Portugal Telco Business by:
Adopting a consultative approach to positioning Teradata’s existing industry solutions
Identifying assets (i.e. solutions, partnerships) from successful engagements that could be replicated
Identifying and developing relationships with new partners
Creating and driving programmes to drive adoption of new solutions
Supporting account planning activities
Working with the US-based Global Telco Industry Consulting team & EMEA telco Centre of Excellence to contribute, influence and steer solution development
Participating in marketing activities (e.g. conference speaking, press activity etc)
3. EMEA Telco High Performance Community
A high-performance community of country ICs, Solution Architects, Sales and Professional Services candidates has already been established and regular contact (e.g. conference calls, quarterly meetings) is required in order to maintain solid discussions in terms of account and solution priorities, skills transfer and talent management.
Required Experience / Skills
Candidate will have:
o Experience of working for a Telco on the network side (for >5 years) and progressing to a role where the focus is on using data to drive business value
o And / or: held a very similar role (as outlined in the ‘Position Summary’) for a network equipment manufacturer, SI, boutique consultancy. (For >7 years)
Experience in 2G, 3G and LTE networks is mandatory: the candidate must be able to interact effectively with senior network employees from mobile operators
Consulting experience is mandatory and the candidate should have previous experience of presenting to and working with the C level. This experience can have been gained whilst operating as a senior manager in a Telco, i.e. internal consulting.
The candidate should also have an appreciation of high level technical solutions as they relate to information management
Travel expectations: Less than 30% within Spain & Portugal, depending on assignments. Occasional travel to EU or USA for training or events.
